By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

Our learning approach at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Primary School Sefton is as follows.

Courage

Students are encouraged to strive in all areas of learning. We provide students with rich learning experiences where students are able to work courageously and become risk takers. At Immaculate Heart of Mary we strongly believe great learning will support our students intellectually, socially and emotionally.

Purpose

Staff analyse data effectively to inform teaching decisions. Teachers work collaboratively in consultation with the leadership team to design effective teaching programs. We strive to instill values and skills in all our students that will support the 21st century learner. To be resilient, a negotiator and critical thinker are skills that our students will develop and take into their future years. Students are always encouraged to use their voice and make choices, which will help them and support their learning.

Passion

Catholic faith at Immaculate Heart of Mary is very important. The whole community is encouraged to provide good service to others. We are called to our students and encourage them to follow in the footsteps of our Beloved Mother Mary and Jesus.
