Welcome
to IHM Sefton online!
I
would like to welcome all students, parents, staff and all members of our
school community to our Web site.
I also
hope that visitors to our site will find it informative and will gain an
insight into our school community. Our
school is an integral part of the Parish of Sefton and is one of many schools
conducted by the Catholic Education Office, Sydney Archdiocese.
For
our visitors, Sefton is located in the western suburbs of Sydney, very
close to the site of the 2000 Olympic Games.
Our
motto 'In Giving We Receive' helps us focus on the ideals of Christian
service, as practiced by Mary, the mother of Jesus, which are to be found
in the Gospels. In turn this service leads us to the fullness of life as
promised to us by Christ.
Our
committed, experienced and enthusiastic teaching staff run excellent education
programs in the seven Key Learning Areas (KLA's) - Religion, English, Mathematics,
Science & Technology (S&T), Human Society and its Environment (HSIE),
Creative and Practical Arts (CAPA) and Personal Development, Health and
Physical Education (PD/H/PE).
The focus of our
teaching is on meeting the individual learning needs of each child and providing
a range of learning experiences both within and outside the classroom.
There
is a sense of partnership between the school staff, parents, our Parish
Clergy and the wider Parish Community.
Since 2002 our
school has undergone an extensive building and renovation program at a cost of
nearly $3.8 million dollars, provided by the combined efforts of the local
community, Federal and State Government grants and the Sydney Catholic Education
Office. The
conclusion of this program (mid 2006) has resulted in the renovation of
8 existing classrooms, the building of 6 new classrooms, library, staff and
administration facilities, gardens, shade area and extensive re-vamped
playgrounds.
I hope
you enjoy your journey through our site and we would be delighted if you
would like to contact us via
email.
